So I just came upon the chance to buy these guys and got myself two 3" little carpintis. I had seen these guys in pictures before but never in person, let alone available locally.

Anyone have experiences with these? What to expect behavior wise feeding etc?

I've kept other CA & SA cichlids before and have a 125g with Jack's but never this line.

If you use the Search function, and search the word carpintis using "title only" for returns, you will get a return of numerous pages of information that you can read on this species. A LOT more than I can simply repeat here. One thing to note, this species does not always play out well in a 125 gallon community setting. They can be fairly aggressive at times, especially with females of the same. Good luck, beautiful fish!

Thanks RD!

I tried to use the search function but it does not seem to be working properly. Regardless of the filter options selected 95% of the returns are from the market place, I was not able to dig up much info on them.

I don't what you are seeing, but when I use the "Search Forums" feature, and select Titles Only, I get pages upon pages of hits for carpintis. Yes, some are for the Marketplace, scroll past those. Pretty simple stuff. Or as Rocksor suggested, refine your search parameters for just the CA folder. Good luck.

All good, I didn't think it would be this involved to get some info a discus with other fish keepers being that this is a forum. I'll just google it somewhere else I guess.

Thanks again

These are generally loaners, and the older they get the more aggressive they get, males with hit about 12 inches, maybe a little less.
Usually a tank of about 6ft long will fit a pair, and if they can will kill everything else.
This one is maybe, half to 2/3 grown in the pic.

Below almost 10-12", and he and his partner killed most of the other cichlids in a 125, before I pulled the rest to save their lives.

Below in breeding colors, female to the left.

Wow, really? The search feature is more difficult than using google? lol

Bro, you posted some pretty generic question/s with supplying next to nothing for information on this tank. I'm not sure how anyone could answer anything specific, as you didn't ask anything specific. That is exactly why I directed you to the search feature. If you have some specific questions about this species, by all means ask away.

Those guys are nice. Carpintis for sure. But there are so many types from different locations. I would assume they are a Rio hondo type or can be electric blue carpintis depending on the person you got them from is going to determine what location they are from. But if it's from a lfs, it can be anything.
