I believe Tonymofo's is a Castexi ray (either or some varient between "Estrella" or "Big yellow spots"& andersp90 your's is a sp. Peru,,,,look at the difference in tail length & tail pattern.
this link is a German site but show several varients of castexi http://www.raubwelse.de/galerie/rochen/rochen.htm
Andersp90 wins the big prize!! He just gets better and better
Anyways yeah its a Peru Flower sorry not a Castexi but hope you didn't pay big bucks very nice pick up though it will turn out to be a great ray just like your other brown ray you got there.. they turn out to be amazing adults.
is this as well a Peru Flower, I doubt it's a scobina......but the difference in classification between the hobby and science now has me after the big Chicago shin-dig.
But yeah like you said the Synposium changed it up a bit.. as far as that being a Scobina I guess there is one that is suppose to come from that area that looks like a peru flower.. have seen some Falkneri and Castexi from southern Brazil look alot like the peru flower, too..
good thing we can rule out it being from Brazil .. and the fact that the Peru Flowers are widely and cheaply available and get pawned off as Castexi all the time..
(Miles & andersp90, thanx for the correction)
now even more
because that exporter is out of Peru & Brazil also, and it looks alot like the Peru Flowers but have no clue if they offer it on their current stock list but all the other rays pictured are out of Peru and I don't see any other type of Brazilian rays (besides a hystrix) but no leo, hen, pearl.
Hello,
nice Ray!
I´m not definitly sure, but IMO it looks like a Otorongo Pup because the tail colouration is Otorongo-tail-colouration and these spotted sp.Peru do never have Otorongo Tail Colouration.
The Body shape is too more Castexi then sp.Peru.
P.s. I watched it again, ok those eyes are to huge for standard castexi *g* it is a sp.Peru x Otorongo Hybrid with definetly more Castexi Genes then sp.Peru. I have a pic somewhere of one of these "nearly castexi lookalike sp.peru-hybrid"
So no pure Otorongo, and no "pure" "Peru Flower" "peru spotted" sp. Peru Ray
