new cat Synodontis for ID please

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
Of the four pictures you posted on the bottom, it appears that the two on th eleft hand side are true ocellifer, the one of the top right appears to be a hybrid (not sure), and the pair on the bottom is diffcult to discern from the pictures show. You might want to get a second opinion though, as mochokids aren't my area of preference.

Thank you.. i think i still need a better picture of mine and another to see it really clearly.. I will try to get another.

Here a couple more pictures of the boy in question.. not great pictures because he moves so fast..but you can see his body better and fins etc.. hope it helps ..........

Okay here are the pic's..had trouble down loading..

It is okay just want to know what u think..

Honestly, in these more refined pictures, it doesn't seem all THAT different from the standard ocellifer mould, aside from the unmarked dorsal, but something about this fish still screams "hybrid" to me, but I can't quite put my hand on what...

Like I said, though, I'm not quite as adept with synodontis and crew as I'd like to be.

Thank you... the reason i think i am quite surprised is that we had him for about 3 years and purchased him when he was about the size he is now ..so i did not think they were apt to distributing hybrids especially syn. cats as they are now when they are more popular..Anyway i think this guy is getting up in age and just wanted to get a firm ID.. Thanks again.
