Just got this fella in yesterday. Here's a tank shot today! I wasnt sure of what species it is but its a beauty :) Has no dorsal fin by the way if the picture seems deceiving. Thanks guys!IMG-20130825-WA0000.jpg

All species of Wallago have a dorsal fin at all ages: http://www.planetcatfish.com/common/genus.php?genus_id=74#698

At first I thought it is a species of the Ompok genus but they all appear to have a dorsal fin too: http://www.planetcatfish.com/common/genus.php?genus_id=113#2341

Some of the species of the genus Kryptopterus appear not to have a dorsal but their lower jaw does not extend that far past the upper jaw: http://www.planetcatfish.com/common/genus.php?genus_id=11#2051

So, I'm lost at the moment. More and better pics could help. How sure are you that there is no dorsal? It may be small or transparent or held closely to the body or bitten/torn off.

Hi guys thanks for the input, @thebiggerthebetter I'm quite sure that it has no dorsal fin as there are no signs of it being torn off. But i'll wait out and see.
Meanwhile I've taken some closeup shots. Not of superb quality but hope it helps

The fin on the first pic is its pectoral fin so do not be mistaken :) it has not eaten pellets since its arrival but hopefully it will soon ;/

My lfs have just got six of these in stock I noticed them few days ago , sorry im not much help at the min I can't remember the name but next time im in store ill get it , quality looking cats though tempted myself :D

I'd say its looks to be Phalacronotus sp, possibly a young P apogon :D

Yes it quite looks like an apogon to me! Anybody has any experience in keeping these beauties ? Day 3 and it hasn't taken any food yet, just likes to chill at the corner of the tank against the current
