The funny thing is If they are wild.... And no one knows what river they came from.. That makes it harder for People like Boosten who has depicted why certain species are wild; and why they can be trusted, to be from certain areas to ID
If you had an area and a part of the river they were collected. That; in my opinion, would make it simpler. For those that are seemingly able to id at such sizes and able to ID fish becasue of stated collection points. Allot of times it comes down to Patterns.. Which FARMED fish many times will NOT show...Or will show erratic form of..
As well as many Cichla exporters pull from PONDS; that they have cichla in, that have been wild caught as well as bred in those ponds .. Some will notice variations in the species they thought they bought. Because the same species from different areas and different rivers were thrown in togehter and spawned
Now when I buy a WILD fish.. I think it is important to ask new vendors WHICH river and Which area of the river.. If I don't care then I should't call it wild.. Because those of us that do care WANT to know where .. And it is easy for the experienced to ask where the fish they are getting originated..
Some vendors have reputations for bringing in only wild fish.. New ones do not have this so it is the OBVIOUS to get that info.
Many Id's on small sizes like this are derived fromt he parents that were sitting on or near the collected fish
