Hey guys. This my first topic made on MFK. Been a member of AC for almost a year now.

MY 55g tank started as a tropical fish tank and then i got bored with them and always had a love for cichlids.

So this is my first venture into a cichlid tank.

On with the pics!!!

There we go! As you can see i have a Cobalt Blue Zebra and a Venustus.

Also, im fully aware that the Venustus will get up to 10in. That woudl make me a monster fish keeper right? :)

great looking set up, and welcome to the world of Cichlid keeping. Once you start to see their behavior patterns you'll be hooked and never go back.

:welcome:

I personally do not like the dark substrate used. Makes the tank look like a dark hole!!!!
I would suggest you put some more rocks into the tank and some real live plants rather than that fake stuff!!!!!
:naughty:  :headbang2 :nilly:

ignore him on the black comment. Black looks great with mbuna because their color will pop! I would loose the plants and stick to rock work. Lace rock will give a little difference in color, but still not distract from the fish.

I agree with Mike's statement above <<< I only go for black substrate. I have all black gravel and the only thing I would consider changing it for would be black sand, it really makes the look.

Sorry to shut down your second suggestion too Scotty ....Im not a lover of fake plants either but I have them b/c with africans live plants are not a choice. I have tried it and its not that the fish even eat them, they just tear the hell out of them for fun. Youll just end up with chunks of plants floating around your aquarium like i did.
