New Cichlid Tank - Stocking Suggestions

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
what are tank dem, a tall or? foot print makes a deference.

sorry never mind, I see, lotsa choices with that.

my 145 is a jag tank, mated pair, nothing else, my 180 is a tall, oscars 2, gibby pleco, sun cat and a BKG fish. for me both tanks stocked.

yellow acara, severums, Honduran red points

vieja are the best looking but are aggressive other members should be able to help if you plan on going that route as I am new to keeping them, heterospilus are least aggressive from what I have read.

Hmmmm, Whats the compatibility like between Vieja, Oscars and Jags...
I know that oscars are the tamest out of the group but with my tank size and say appropriately sized drift wood/ hiding places (Currently i have a 2.5 ft hollow log with 2 mangrove roots in there)
Would that combination be plausible?
I would try to keep them in pairs tell you honestly.
From my knowledge jags and Oscars cant reallllly be housed together unless the tank is full with other aggressive cichlids which pans out aggression from the thougher spiecies, Right?
Well... Except this oscar... Hes a Boss
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=FTGlacuoRso

And in that youtube vid i would assume that that oscar would be more aggressive because he would be a wild one? i come to this conclusion based on the coloration or lack there of

no matter the oscar is doomed, that whole tank is destined for a train wreck. jag pair make sure of that.

To clarify,
was the last comment in relation to my first question about viable tank mates?
or in relation to the video?
Alittle confused :S

I dont think oscars could handle viejas I am growing out a few argentea and man are they nippy

I would go either all sa or all ca.
