New cichlids!

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
My Salvini's don't bother my other fish at all and they have really nice colors. They just chase each other a bit. Should be fine with the sajica.

grover what kind of fish do youhave your sal with? are they more aggressive fish? usually sals are prettty aggressive, gorgeous but they can be mean little SOBs, i dont think i would suggest it with your stock as they are more mild but like with most cichlids you may get lucky and have one that gets along with them, its worth trying out if you really want to but more likely that not it will be too aggressive for them

well I got a bristle nose pleco today... I think I am going to leave it for a week give or take a day or two and then add the elliotti then just leave it for now. I may just save the rest of the room for a nice school of rainbow fish or smaller dithers or some other small to medium size odd ball fish. I will try to get some pics up here in a minute if I can figure it out.

make sure your filtration is top notch, lots of people think that all they need is good turn over which is good but false, you need plenty of bio space so the beneficial bacteria has the space to grow

And the open side of the tank that will hopefully be a bed of micro chain sword and mangrove.

A dwarf pike might be a but touchy I feel...i think I am going to sit on what I have now for a bit and see what turns up. And also I have the bacteria culture on lock...my hob's are filed with scrubbies and filter floss no store bought pads. And those things hold a surprising amount of material.

Just curious... My tank is going to be lightly planted so would a geo be a lost cause lol?

I wouldn't do a single geo. They tend to do best in groups of 4 to 6. You could probably still do a group of the smaller growing ones, but they will probably dig up plants unless they're anchored really well. Geos are sand-sifters and so they'll constantly be foraging around in the substrate.
