Nice Flowers, any with long/full tails.

Thanks,
The flowers will be listed soon here. There are some with 6 bands on the 6.5" females, havent really looked at the bands for the larger ones.

Why do you go by 'bands' as for judging tail length on flowers? With my four the 'bands' are completely variable - one male has 5 up to and including the band that his stinger(s) are on, and probably 4 or 5 after and I'd say he's got a full tail (9-10 total). My other male also has 5 up to his stinger, and only 3 after (8 total) with an equally full tail. The end of one males' tail is almost solid black for close to 3", whereas the other has a few white bars between the black. I'm just saying that bands on a tail are in no way a good method for judging the length of tails on flowers.

Awesome looking flowers, good luck getting them all to eat! I'll definitely be adding to my collection in the future...

When we talk tail bands we are counting the bands after the barb. Not scientific or anything but what most would consider a perfect tail is 7-9 after the barb. Just a easy way to get a mental picture without an actual picture.

The bands are mainly cosmetic for most people and will raise the prices if more bands exist, what they call japanese grade .On Flowers the most common are 3-5 bands ,1 out 10 may have 6 or more, and on flowers it doesnt have anything to do with the length of the tail. Now Tigers can get alot more, i have a pair now with 15 bands on the male and 13 on the female and the tails can actually be longer than some other.

More important (to me) than bands it the complete/full tail, bands are secondary.

So by bands, do they count white and black, or just one colour or the other?

I've attached pics of both of my male flowers, with what I think are pretty close to full tails (excuse the. First pic shows my largest male flowers' tail, along with the tail of one of my females. Last two pics are of my smaller male, again I'd say his tail is full or pretty close to, yet if you're counting both colours as bands, it could be argued he's got 10 bands vs. 6 of the larger male.

I've just never heard of bands or anything for japanese grading, so am just looking for a little clarification on this.
