New columbian catfish

Was able to get there before they closed, got it back to them, explained what it was and what they needed and are saying that they are going to start the acclimating tomorrow.

Got an astatheros altifrons instead :)

my wife has two of these catfish in her 55 gallon
they are about 3 or 4 inches long. how long of a dripping
do they need to go form her 55 fresh to my 300 salt??

These columbians are actually brackish fish... mine are in the high end of brackish... as far a pure salt tank i do not know if they would do okay.. and keep in mind they will get big .. putting them in your salt water tank i presume you have expensive salt water fish .. And your answer to your question is... it takes approximately 6-8 months to acclimate the fresh water cat babies to brackish..it needs to be done slowly with each water change i did .005 and increase slowly to .20 over the time.. hope this helps. one last note.. as they grow they have a very hardy appetite and they move quickly.. skittish fast pace... they really are better off in their own tank if you can manage that..
 
Can't the acclimation be done faster? Aren't most brackish fish from tidal areas where the salinity fluctuates regularly.
