New Computer Tips Please

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
Gotta check out for the evening, but before I go: the XPS series is a good series. I think any of the ones listed would perform well and be a pretty good value for the money spent.

Dell laptops, however, can be amazing pains in the butt. Don't get me started on the saga of failure from tearing apart a Dell laptop for components for this side project I once had. LOL

EDIT: One big benefit to buying a Dell desktop would be re-sale: a year or two later, if you wanted to sell it, it would still be worth a couple hundred. Hard to predict the exact price. Nothing like a new computer, but it would be easier to sell because it's a big name brand and a popular series. When I built mine, I pretty much expected there would be slim to no chance of selling it later, because my grubby paws were all over it, putting it together. I trust that I put it together right, at least, I'm posting here from it, but who could expect a random buyer to believe that, too? And I bought components that were rated highly, but not necessarily home brands or big brands.

Mileage may vary! Dell is a safe choice for desktops, and the price is reasonable for a pre-assembled system. Especially if you hunt for big store sales. Best of luck!

Well you see what i'm looking for now. It doesn't need to be the bestest ever or anything, just something that is good.

what i posted as a link even sold as is will still be better than the xps and is almost half the price!!!!!! the only thing i would definitely upgrade no question since its so cheap is the memory and the hard drive space. these 2 factors have a lot to do with performance and speed and ultimately how soon you will buy another computer
