New congicus

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
Hahaha.. Nice meeting you dude.. Glad you really like this piece. It's already treated with Jungle labs Parasite Clear btw.

I'm being a paranoid. That time never quarantine, the worms spread until all my bichirs their body covered with them.

looks awesome. did you isolate and treat the fish or are you treating the whole tank? if it's the latter, then you'd probably want to avoid that in future by quarantining the new fish and treating it alone.

I treat the whole tank, Current only have a small 10g spare tank. Still waiting for a cheap maybe 20 or 30g tank to buy as hospital tank. So I just put the congicus inside and nuke whole tank. Also ensures that my current bichirs all don't have any remaining worms left after previous outbreak.

Congrats on the pick up! This congicus is in top shape, really nice.

Thanks, I agree this congi was really in tip-top condition when I brought it. Credits goes to Washy for taking good care of it. :D

Beautiful Congicus! :)

Thanks hao, can't wait for it to grow as thick as yours

I would say a normal Congicus.
Most likely Lake Tanganyika.

Thanks for the info. Varient don't really matter much to me. IMO they are all congicus regardless of where they are from.
Only difference in colour, pattern, headshape...etc. (sp collectors are going to come after me if they see this -_-)

But it would be nice to know it's origin :D

EDIT: Did some research on Lake Tanganyika

Wikipedia said:
It is estimated to be the second largest freshwater lake in the world by volume, and the second deepest, after Lake Baikal in Siberia; it is also the world's longest freshwater lake

No wonder those guys get up to monsterous length!

My lapradei got his fins badly damaged, the endli suffer minor damage as well. Couldn't have been by the congicus since this has happen before. I suspect a shift of power in the tank could have cause this. I have this cave which I notice only the largest of bichirs claim it. Previously it was the ornate who reside in there. Now it seems the congicus chased it out and claim the cave as its own. I think it was the ornate who attacked the lapradei and the endli. Does this theory hold any water?

^ seems feasible. try adding more hiding spots to reduce aggression

Will do, I have already removed a stone which blocks the entrance of another driftwood.

Sure enough my lapradei took hiding in there. Hope its tail heals

That's the thing about hiding spaces. People may have differing views but I believe in making it as open as possible. You saw my set up right? Nothing but gravel and a few river stones scattered around. This is to prevent from the establishment of territory. Despite this, there is still aggression especially among the bigger ones.

True true, for me I want to maximum the open space while providing enough places for them to hide should aggression occur

Update!
