ur not planning to finish it off with a black background?
 
They have plenty of places to choose to spawn. You dont need to pull the fry as they take good care of thier fry but thier first couple of spawns may end up with only a dozen or so left. But they keep trucking.

Much easier to defend so they feel more comfortable.

If you want to notch or cut the pot, soak it overnight in water and then use a ceramic drill bit or some big pliers to nibble away.

why would he add a pot for these CAVE spawner s after he built that rock structure on the left?

great looking set up i just built up a similar formation with all the caves connected with 2 layers of caves and a large room in the back for my future cons to hide from jag who cannot penetrate the"fortress" i made sure that non of the openings are large enough for her.
 
Looking good....I reckon you'll be having lots of fry in no time, and as a previous poster said, just siphon them out if you want to pull them - that's what I did. Here's a pic of my old Con tank - 10 spawnings in 6 weeks between a few different pairs - at one time the gravel was full of fry! Tried to leave them in there, but ended up siphoning some out as the competition for space was too fierce! Got 10 healthy juvie cons now - sold all of the adults - and I'm waiting for the dominant male to pair off, sell the rest and start all over again! Have fun!

I agree - they spawned on the gravel, in the gravel, on a rock, underneath a rock, and just for fun I put a little clay pot in and.........
Yes - of course they did!

What Fishdance meant by that is they prefer caves. If denied caves, yes they will spawn anywhere.
 
I provided 5 places to spawn/full cave/flat rock/semi cave etc and they choose the darkest cave 100%. I need a flashlight to see in because its so enclosed.

anyway It turns out that the female was laying eggs but every were she wanted to lay the male couldnt get too them....so After a little tweeking on Friday today i noticed....

Thanks for the reply. I have added some different peices and I recieve my plant package tomarrow so i update the aquatic scape for you guys. And I will have a black background-was going to use posterboard
