So after going through this back in Dec and early Jan, here I am again, this time doing it the correct way and not cutting corners to find a cheaper way out. I contacted Swiss Tropicals and spoke to Stephan for a long time. I then ordered 8 new sponges. Then I went to Jacks Glass and ordered the glass rods, which is what he told me to do because he was more expensive. Glass finally came in two days ago, gave them the wrong height because on tank, the 265 has been resealed so the silicone was thick and the glass didn't sit flush to the glass so had to get 2" cut, I went ahead and did them all that way.

I just filled it up and sometime tomorrow evening will add the fish, water temp was 56 degrees.

Stock will be Geo's, Choco's, Sev's and Loach's of different varieties.

Behind the sponges I made some adjustments. I put the air stone on the bottom and then added more media to the media bag and placed it on top of the air stone, on both sides, then put some bio-balls in there as well. Then hid the rest of the items like the heater and lifter.

This new setup looks much better and cleaner than the last.

I will here today, transferring fish at the moment.

I used foam that disintegrated in about 30 days. So had to get the correct foam.

Ouch. I would love to see how this works out for you long term, I'm guessing you need to pump more air into them than I want to run. The German sponge set ups are something I want to attempt in the future.

I use foam from Foam Factory, Stephan told me it was the wrong type of foam which is why it didn't last. But while I did have two corner filters in each tank, two 220's and two 265's, it's been the best thing ever. I'm glad I don't have to clean out canister anymore. I had 10 all together, now I only run one because its on a 75 upstairs, I may switch this spring. But the water parameters have been excellent, fish are breeding in all 4 tanks, well I thought I had some fry in the Madagascar tank but I don't think anything came of it. But I tested the water for 2 months, for the first month I tested every single day waiting for the cycle to start but it never did. At the 2 month mark I tested every few days and the parameters were always the same. I took the media bags from the canisters and put them behind each corner foam so I'm sure that had to help. This time around I made some adjustments so there is flow going through the media. I just finished putting in all the fish so I hope all goes well as it did the first time around. Will post a video tonight of the setup.

I was using 30 ppi @ 2" but Stephan suggested I use 20 ppi @ 3" so that's what I got. I also have one air pump running three tanks and its rated at 1750 gph, I have a 925 gph running the other 220 on the other side of the basement. He said I can get 30 ppi and slip it behind the 20 ppi if I want to catch smaller particles but I would have to clean it more often so for now I will see how 30 works out.

Nice, sorry about all that silicone since u had 2 get the glass recut... ur old 480's in my shop now actually.. i think some water got inbetween the black acrylic on the inside...froze in his garage, and popped the back seam right off. i should have it fixed and running for him soon. just welded him stands for 2 360's 6'x4'x2'... and he has 2 300's, 2 125's, a 8×3 200gal and also some 300 rubbermaids until he gets the 360's running. Poor guys been workin 80hrs a week so its taken us a while 2 get em back on track. im over an hr away so we dont get together often 2 move tanks around and what not.
