NICE Cubans! how big of a tank do a pair of these guys need?

not too big Sarah you could keep a pair in a 55 for quite a while before you ever had to think about up-grading if ever. I have these two in a 140 and they have full control of it, but the do not require that much space. They just enjoy it

Is the male really hard on the female? A buddy of mine raised a pair a few years ago and the male ended up killing the female after a few clutches. That male grew to a solid and powerful 11".

That's good man they are real cool fish and really pretty once they get large well worth it. They get around 12'' tops but trust me when given the chance they will hold their own with most fish

No he is not they get along perfect and have hard over 10 spawns now. They work so well together have have to watch them as they are quite nasty to others. The run this tank now and I tried 3 times to introduce other fish even some very agressive fish twice their size, but they were not having it! I had to take everything out them togther makes for a very deadly mixture towards others if they wish

Good looking pair Broheim, that male is awesome!!!! I have a pair also, just had about 250-300 fry. I know they grow slowly, I think mine might be 6.5, the male of yours is a beast!!!!

thanks man and yes they grow super slow! It's a pain to grow them out to the 2'' range but once there than they start to grow rather quick until they hit like 6'' than slow down a bit again

I must say, i think you have a beautiful tank, No wonder you're fish look so good, they must love their place and you must take care of them super good.
