So I picked up a 4" Thin Bar about a week ago. So far it just hides. Color is still dark (even though it was stable when I picked him up at the LFS) and he is not eatting. He's in a corner 55 gal alone at the moment. Is that the reason why he is so reclusive? (Because he is solo?) I was going to add two more dats to the tank - around the same size and move them to my 210 gal when they got bigger.

Temp is at 80 and all the water parameters are good. Anything else i can do to make that guy feel more comfy so he doesn't hide so much?

Thanks!

Have you tried dither fish like tin foil barbs? Adding other dats might help a bit as well. Try the dithers though cause when fish see other fish swimming around, they get more comfortable. Do you have decor in there? Also, do you leave your lights on? How bright?

No light on the aquarium at the moment- just ambient light from the living room right now. I currently have a 8" clay flowerpot in there and a large plastic plant. Tank is also bare bottom. :) Driftwood soaking - still leeching lots of tanin so I didn't want to put it in just yet.

waht are you params?

55 gal
pH 6.8-7.0
Ammonia 0-0.2 ppm
Nitrite: 0
Nitrate: Last week = slighty off from zero.
Temp: 80 F.
Filtration: Wet/Dry

Update: I just introduced two more dats around the same size and I guess my thin bar just needed some company. They all swim around now in the open. Still shy, but at least they out now. I left them alone for a few hours and they all became stable... too bad when i went to look at them, they panicked and turned dark again. lol. At least its a good start.

Btw - So one of the dats i introduced today I discovered had a slightly cloudy eye. (Just one eye). Checked when i picked him up this morning and he looked okay, but I didn't notice until I placed him into my tank. Is there something i can do to cure it - or to make sure it doesn't get worst?

Thanks for all the advice so far! Dats rock! I'll put up some pictures when they get more acclimated to their new home. :)
