i have a 3 foot x 5 foot base ,,, so i may have a trip to the beach soon ,lol, its gonna cost a bit to buy sand or gravel from my lfs,,

make sure you wash those beach sand very hardy who knoes what might be in the sand. just for precaution. 
well i opened the wallet and went for the black sand from the lfs, i have a even covering now , 25 kg's did it ,, i may add some more if it wears thin in places due to circulation ,,
i will try some pics later when it de clouds ,, i need to upgrade my lighting now though , probly need 4 or 5 tubes and reflectors , or may be cheaper to buy some better ones after i have paid for tubes, holders and reflectors

Out of interest jason how much was the black sand as i went to grab some at the weekend and it was £30 for 25kg
i paid £23ish for mine , they do a 25kg sack , i can post you the receipt if you wanna use it to haggle with your lfs ,,
