Update:
Just a funny thing I've noticed.
He won't eat one pellet at a time.
He'll only start eating once I drop in the whole meal for him.
He's starting to bang a little but it's more just flaring than real aggression.
He also gets really pissed of when you rub a towel on the tank

The staple is hikari gold. I make sure to include some veggies in his diet but I'm not doing anything really special.
