If you spent a ****load of money on a whisper 30 and a sponge filter, then I would suggest directing your "research" into another direction. You can do what you like, you've researched it, right? So why even ask anyone else's opinion.

Buy a breeding pair. Done, problem solved.
Might cost you more ,but might save you money also ,trying to get a pair.
They are hard to sex and the size of your tank is to small for 5-7 fish.
To get a pair that way.
Look up some local breeders.just scope them out,get prices.....
I would guess all of them would tell you to get a bigger tank..
Try something smaller less picky about their water conditions.

i know sorry but i get really pissed when i have what i consider a great idea and i spend time earning the money to get the equp and it turns out the fish wont be haealthy if i keep them i guess its back to breeding Firevict here i come
