Yes it will definitely need top bracing. The acrylic won't break at that thinkness but it will bow like crazy. If you are doing one open topped like a pond set up you could do a 3-4 inch lip on the top and then water test to see if it bows. On my 72"L 27"W 24"T I did a 2 inch lip with 2 front to back braces. Mine was made out of 1/2 inch. You could also try to make an angle iron top trim piece but it better be thick cause that tank will have a lot of weight in it.

the tanks sides are 1" top and bottom is going to be 1/2" the top is a solid sheet with three cut out tops like a tenocor tank. the tank was glued with something called wc ? and the edges are beveled and then glued with Weldon # 40 witch is a two part epoxy resin. finishing up with Weldon #40 tomorrow morning maybe top will go on too. no bio reactor how ever it was really tempting and also not entirely too late 10 rays in a 450 gal with great water man that is impressive i would love to see your set up some day. thanks to those who have helped with my questions along the way. i have planning for this tank for a long time . maybe i will have some more to show you tomorrow keep you posted.

nothing much to look at still appying weldon 40 i quess it is a acrylic cement not epoxy resin. don't know much about acylic other than it has been on heck of a process putting it togather.

rays are ok good to see you online Pat. i keep thinking i have some preg females but nothing comes of it. suspect two preg now but not 100%
