Brachyplatystoma flavicans, and they usually get around 4 feet in the wild. Not many people have them in tanks, and I have never heard of one over 2 feet in home aquaria, more than likely due to the fact they are quite rare.

Yeah, they get huge and like you I have not seen a large one in an aquaria before. Hopefully mine will make it to a decent size and I can post some pics then.
 
watch his snout. They love to hit the tank sides.

also, I would recomend some heavy powerheads in the tank. these fish love the fast water.
