New Driftwood growing crap

I have been soaking a big peice of DW in the garage and i now noticed it is growing some crap on it. I am guessing a fungus or something. I take a pic tomorrow.

What would be the best route to treat the wood. Should I powerwash it and soak it again?

I always scrub then bleach driftwood as the first step in curing driftwood.Scrub or powerwash then hit it with 1 cup bleach /10g water for a few days then either fresh or salt water for another week.

Howdy,

The growth if completely natural and will disappear within a week or two. If you have plecos: They love to eat it.

If you don't like looking at it, simply remove it during water changes. It will come back a few times, but it will eventually stop.

Rinse well first...Bleach will leave a residue otherwise.

The thing is i am soaking the wood in my 125 that it is going in. I dont feel comfortable puting bleach into my fish tank.

Could i just srubs the ever living crud out of the wood powerwash it and then soak it in some normal water within the tank like i was doing?
