I'd like to add a few more plants and some small spot lights so that I can have either full on lighting or just a couple of beams of light going into the tank for a different look and to encourage the cats to be more active.

........show off. Looks like you have an Anubias hastafolia at the bottom. I have one too, and I'm surprised how fast it grows for an anubias! All the fish look great, as usual!
