He is getting fatter and eating a lot now! roughly five big worms a day

Did u catch him by yourself? Which river is he from?
Try small Tetras, they sleep at the bottom and are easy to catch for him.
And ofcourse the best would be live freshwater shrimps, should be no problem to get them in Manaus.
Actually i have only seen one for sale and i kept it as a pet:D really would he eat the pim? it half his size and very active.

thanks but removing tankmates isnt possible. i moved him to the pond were he is doing much better
