New EBJD breeding project..... advice please

I was thinking the same thing about the bg from a lfs. I know of a guy who breeds them in my area and I've been trying to get ahold of him to see if he has any mature bg's. If I can't Ill prolly try to find some on aqua bid. Once I get the 40 up and running ill buy 3 or 4

Beat advice is get as many ebjd as you can grow out to adult size. Get them from as many sources as you can.

As far as fish? I have the one ebjd male.

As far as my breeding tank that I will breed the fish in then leave the fry in too grow out, what will be good for substrate? I really want to do a bare bottom but not sure if that'll be good for the breeding pair. I will divide the tank to separate the eb fry from the bg and reg jd fry

I can't recommend a bare bottom tank for ebjd. They will constantly be stressed from their reflection on the bottom and stressed fish will not breed. I like sand as its easier for them to move. For fry growing get a 20 long and a sponge filter.
