I decide to check out my LFS see what they have in stock at the moment. And I ran across these 1" EBJD for $12.99 ea(do you think it's a reasonable price?) with no guarantee(that sucks but oh well). I heard many things about how these little buggers are such a challenge to keep alive. So I was thinking to myself, hey...maybe a challenge would keep make my hobby fun and interesting. So I picked out two EBJD. Tell me what you think of them(sorry for the poor camera quality!). :headbang2
Anything that I should be warned about these EBJD?

SWEET, GOOD LUCK on the little guys, if i were you i would go ahead and get some Jungle Parasite clear and treat the tank (do all three treatments) they more than likely have parasites if you got them from the lfs so the sooner you treat them the better, and its better to go ahead and treat even if they dont have it than wait and then they stop eating, once you finish all 3 treatments for the parasites then they should be fine, just make sure to keep up with your weekly wc and dont keep them with anything too aggressive, also be careful with your deco i had a shell (one of those small spiral shells) that was kind of broken so the top part was kind of open but very small, n my little ebjd killed himself trying to squeeze through instead of backing up so make sure none of your deco has small holes, other than that my guys was great and was super outgoing, was right there at the top of the tank waiting for food anytime i walked up, but i guess others can be really shy so maybe some tetra dithers will help to bring them out if yours are shy GOOD LUCK

oh yeah and yes that was a good price for them :)

in my area, prices have come down a bit . . . I got mine a year ago for $20, but now I'd guess they're about $10-15 . . . I still see on-line dealers selling them for 2-3x that (!)

I did have to do a course of Jungle Parasite Clear on mine, because he the "white poo" when I got him (at about 1") . . . as noted above, EBJDs are notorious for having parasites, so you should at least keep an eye out for signs of it and then act quickly if you see any

in my experience, and the majority of opinions I have seen online - - there will be exceptions - - the EBJD is a relatively delicate fish when young, but if you can get it past the 3-4" mark, it should be fairly healthy . . .

I would not put it with any rough fish, tho', as always, there are exceptions . . .

Fed them their first meal in their new temporary home for tonight. They try to go after the NLS 1mm pellet, must be a bit too rough for their liking as their jaw isn't strong enough to chew it off so they keep spitting it out and then just ignored it. So I fed them some tropical flakes and they start chowing right away pieces by pieces. Is this a good sign? WISH ME LUCK! :p

sad to say but that is a poor quality ebjd

Interesting looking ebjds. They are usually a bit lighter in color but they will go through different stages and look much different as adults.
