#1 "Gold Dorado" is redundant...."Dorado" is Gold in spanish...so you're saying a "gold gold"....like saying "Blue Azul" ...You're saying "Blue Blue".
#2 This cat's common name is in fact "Dourada", which is "Dorado" aka "Gold" in Portuguese. So while the spelling may be different...still the same thing.
 
That's not platinum, that's chrome plated cat. The photos are spectacular! I can only imagine how it is in person.
 
Thanks for clearing that up. I just wanted some more info. This is the first time I saw this fish and wanted to research it a little more. Went to planet catfish and found some good info. He's got a real monster there.

thanks superlaz I knew that I had heard something about the flavicans being called dorado!

Fobrinkle, planetcatfish is a good resource, this cat is cool but is very jittery and will smash its nose on things damaging it. Not a lot of people keep flavicans.
