is it possible to do to much salt

Yes it is possible to add too much salt. Unless you're going brackish (in wich case you need marine salt) I wouldn't do more than 1 tablespoon per 5 gallons. The salt must be completely dissolved before you add it to the tank.

ok i just went and read about dats. hahah now i want one...but it would eat all my tetras

I'm picking up some nice Datnoids this weekend, let me know if you want one. About $40 for a fat'n healthy 4" Indonesian Datnoid. Put your tetras in the 15g hex and you can put the tiger in the 29g.
