They are related. The price was right. I plan I getting more unrelated Leos and a trio of BDs and swapping the males in each group. It's a slow progression to build the breeding stock to fill the future program and facility I'm working on.
That said without getting into advanced genetics (which I studied along with my anesthesiology degree) there is a very "small" chance that if I did inbreed them there would be any deformities or genetic anomalies. If it was done for repeat generations then the chances would of course go up. On a side note just to put it in everyday terms everyone who owns a " pure breed canine" owns a animal that is the direct result of line breeding/inbreeding at some point in time.
I have been keeping and breeding fish, reptiles, birds, primates, etc. you name it for over 30yrs. I co owned a very large breeding facility for specific propagation of genetic color and pattern mutation ball pythons and boa constrictors with a fair amount of inbreeding/line breeding in order to express or phenotype the many mutations we were working with without reject or deformity.
Where do some people come up with these comments?
I'll get better pics up as I move them into there next tanks.
