You'd be surprised! Their teeth are for tearing.

They will chew through anything! Thats why I am kinda scared of hand feeding my little fahaka :D.

Never feed your fahaka puffer feeder goldfish because it is very very gruesome. Fed it its first and last goldfish. If you see what kind of damage it can do with its teeth you would be scared.

I would never feed ANY fish a GF for these reasons: http://www.**************.com/forum/library/feeding/feeders/

My fahaka, up to about 7 inchs now, tends to lay in the same corner all day. He will come out and swim around on half of the tank. He goes nuts when I walk up though.

They arent super active fish

I fed him probably a 4" worm as I described.

This was AFTER he had 2-3 snails...he took about 3 nips off one end of the worm, and another off the side, and was done.

I left the worm in there as I cleaned some other tanks at work, just to make sure that he had his full, and took it out 30 minutes later when I saw that he was done.

Sounds like feeding wont be an issue...the only question now is do I medicate for internal parasites just for safeties sake?

I had to with my fahaka--they had him 6 mos at the LFS & at 1" was only eyes & a tail, poor thing... I don't with every single puffer I've owned. It's up to you. It can be a slight PITA but it doesn't hurt them.

He probably would have eaten more of the worm if he wasn't already stuff with snails!

Puffer I am going to take some cell phone pictures and post them here and on the pufferforum...that way you guys can make a judgment call on it.

Thanks for the good advice so far.

I think it all has to do with each puffer's personality. I guess I was lucky with the Fahaka I got about 5 days ago. 1st couple days he was a little shy but acouple of days ago he has become very active and will come right up to the top and waiting to be fed all the time..lol. So I think it has to be each one's personality. Had afew puffer species that where alittle shy while had others like my Fahaka that that was very active swimmers and very tame.
