shes adorable, lovely looking dog. Take her everywhere, get her interacting with lots of peeps and other dogs if poss. Smart dogs.

I just started that, lol. She loves people, except when they run, lol. Goes for the heels. But kids, adults, and elderly people, she absolutely loves people. But as for dogs, she bolts at them. It's gonna take some time, but there's lots of people on the trail walking dogs, and most love to help with getting the dogs to interact. My hand is always tight on the leash very close to her collar, to keep her in control if it looks like she's not going to react well. But we did come across a dog she absolutely loved. He was older, and named Teddy Bear, lol. Yup, you guessed right, a huge St. Bernard, lol. They interacted very well.

nice dog, you did a good thing taking her in to a good home:) shes taking you for walks now, my dog isnt that well with dogs she doesnt no but does have her friends next door and friends dogs which come round time to time, but my dog HATES german shepards and was realy trying to go at one one time she minute to them shes a field cocker spainel.....she loves her walks too, Gl and have fun with your new member of the family

Super intelligent dogs. Extremely loyal to you, your family, and your belongings. I had a Heeler as my first dog. Smartest dog I've ever had. So loyal he would guard the truck when I left him in it. Protected the other dogs. Could bring you anything you asked him for (toys, pillow, other dogs, etc.). Man I miss him. GL w/her. Get her micro-chipped.

Part of her adoption was getting all her shots, spayed, and microchippped. So she's all up-to-date. As for guard dog, lol, she's a wuss still, lol. If someone came to break in the house, she'd run up to them wanting hugs and kisses, lol. She just absolutely loves all people. Haven't met anyone yet she doesn't like, except one guy I work with, lol. There's just something about his shoes that triggers hero go after his shoes, lol.

Update....

Today was my first day at work with her alone. MISTAKE, lol. I left her inside, and even though she is great when I'm here, she turned my house inside out, lol. She pooped and peed as well, lol. So tonight I had to spend more money and got her a training kennel. This is only til I get my fence up in the back yard, then she can stay out all day. I'll have a 50ft cable run about 6 feet up, and a lead with a roller on it so she can run the whole length of the yard. You can get these at Petco, and they are fairly cheap. Made of aircraft cable, so it's high strength too. Also need to get her a dog house too. Maybe my next bonus check, lol.

Aww crap.............. I'm gonna beg you to be super SUPER careful if you do the cable run.
That is how my heeler died. I had a run of almost 1/2 acre and he hung himself by rapping it around the doghouse overhang.

No problems there. I have no plans of making it so the dog can get on the doghouse while on the cable. The dog house will be on one end of the run and off to the side. So she has just enough cable to go inside. She won't be able to wrap the lead around anything. There's no trees, etc. The pine tree is on the other side of the fence, which will be the shade tree, so she won't bake in the sun either. And the cable will be far enough from the fence as well, as one of the guys I work with said his older red heeler can jump a 6ft fence no problem, and maybe even an 8ft.

That's exactly why my guy was on a run. The neighbors down the street accused him of of killing some goats (I was once a country boy). I had a 7' wood fence he could clear without even a running start and basically the city forced me to "keep him under control". It wasn't him who killed the goats, he wouldn't really hurt anyone or anything. Just bad vibes for me with cable runs.

If you want something that works like a charm, try the invisible fence. You bury the wire around the perimeter of your yard and when your dog approaches this boundary (temporarily marked by flags so they can see) their collar emits a tone... if they keep going forward they get a little shock. It's not bad, it just scares them into staying in the yard. Also keep them from digging out.
