Here they are, bought them at petsmart for $12/after tax for both of them. Not bad. They are about 5" now, and in the pics as in real life, the damn 11" oscar is pissing me off and trying to pick on them. He'll get it back when they grow up though ;)

I can't really tell since the pic is so far away but those kind of look like Myans to me. Can't see the Y and it looks like the dot is too large for a festae. May be totally wrong but it's kinda hard to see. Good looking fish either way though nice pickup. Good price too either way

yea they dont really look like red terrors but they are to small in my opinion to be with that oscar they look like they could be a snack for him

I would say get a closer pic so we can show you our mayans Toooo:)

Can someone tell me the difference? Anyways here's a better pic. I've had 2 people that are pretty damn good at fish tell me they are festae's though, I dunno...comments welcome of course, I wanna know the truth ;)

I found this too:

Cichlasoma ( Nandopsis ) Urophthalmus is also known as the Orange Tiger or false Red Terror. The Orange Tiger cichlid is among the most aggressive cichlis there are. They usually reach a size of about 9"-11" and are found on the Atlantic slope of Central America, they are known for actually living in the ocean as that is where they can hunt successfully and most effeciantlly. They go up and down the shorelines digging up mangroves in the ocean and eating invertibrates and small fish on an island off the Yucatan Peninsula. There are many stories of females jumping from their tanks at peoples hands in defense of their fry. Another fantastic species to own.

You cannot get a closer pic of the head? If the bars right at or after the head connect in a Y then you have Festea if the do not connect then you have a Mayan :) I have a mayan and have seen many.. Infact i thought i had a festea for a month and didn't :)

Get us a closer pic of the head I will tell you with out a doubt if you do :)

Yup that would be a festea :)...
