New filter for 150, Fluval FX6 or Eheim Pro 3 2080

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
just got my first 2262 it is huge, more or less a 5gallon pail with a pump on top. Simple design, can't see an excuse for anything to go wrong with the thing, will probably last years (mine is used) Not set it up yet, but about the only downside to it could be when it comes time to clean it, but ... it will be on a 180 with an Fx6 and and AC110 with a light stocklist so I shouldn't have to open it often. Its my first eheim, there are enough fanboys they can't all be wrong +) (also my first fx6 but only used the smaller fluvals before now)

I was always a fluval fan till the FX came out. I still run a 405. With the pump on top nothing can go wrong. I have an FX5 but when the motor goes I won't repair it. Nothing but Eheim 2262 for me. I have 2 running and am one of those fanboys.

Wow that is cheap. Where di you find it?
I know Petsmart was having a ridiculous online sale on them for a while. They have been out of stock on them for a while now. Seems about the cheapest I have seen the 2262 for is about $388 online. Bigals had them for $399 for the longest time and they just went back up in price to like $479 last I saw. I wish I could have got one at that cheap price.

All the complaints in the world about the FX5/6 and and I've been running one that needed some o-rings replaced recently (which I just vasolined the o-rings) after 5 years of me running it and the guy prior said he never did anything to it since he got it in 2005 brand new. So I'm sold and have a backup ready waiting in the garage that I would do the same thing to. Vasoline the o-rings and get it going and fix the other.

Good way to keep debris out of the pump I can only imagine is to put adequate media in it to keep said debris out, including out of your water. In which I have no problems with at all and crystal clear water on my 125.

I'm also running a 206 on my 34g that's not 100% ready for fish yet that I like except that I have to manually prime it.
