awesome fire eel and the best of luck with it!! and the tank looks nice just needs a bit of decor..

My Fire Eel took about 4-5 days before he started eating. I put some prawns in for the Oscars and he came out and hoovered up several of them and a few Peas without their skins. He's about a foot long and doesn't go for the larger prawns so I break them up before putting them in.

larger ones love earthworms and thats what the ones i use to have ate before they went to blood worms and krill once they got over 2ft.....

If the earthworms don't work, give ghost shrimp a try. My fire eel was eating them 20 minutes after going into the tank.

also chop the worms up abit into smaller piecies for the first few weeks. and be careful not to overfeed. ghost shrimp also are nearly irresistable. but def get some PVC tubes, they like dark places at first. you can also go with large peices of driftwood if you want a more natural look. the more hideing spots he has the more you will actually see him, particularly if you train him to hand-feed.
