A camera is usually enough to make most male firemouths flare. Mirrors work, too. The hard part is keeping the photos crisp and in focus while they charge at whatever is invading their space.

In an attempt to get back on track, with my Firemouth breeding programme, I decided to buy 6 new baby Firemouths (approx 1.5" in length). At first I took a little 3 hour tour around my local Aquarium stores to have a look at some of the larger specimens on offer but could only find really poor quality (the colors extremely drab with absolutely no potential)... So I ended up studying these baby FMs and decided that even at their small size their colors were good enough and held enough quality
