here is a similar one, same body pattern, smaller head, called,
silurus biwaensis from Japan., so you get the idea. My stock tank is not good for photo!

Thats not what I wanted to hear!
From the place where we visited that is experimenting with breeding, they say that they reached 6-7" range in one year. My friend got some last year around September at 2" and are now about 5-6" so that's not out of the question.
He feeds them a diet of frozen blood worms, cut shrimp., etc...
My large one is about 13" now, he didn't eat well until recently, he's inhaling half smelts each time.
My dream and goal is to get one to 7 pounds 36" or find one someday!
