The walmart near me had fish a bit ago( they no longer sell fish) and I was surprised about the care they put in them. The staff knew nothing about the fish, but they did do water changes surprisingly. The tanks were clean of algae. I never saw what the water chemistry was like, but I rarely had any deaths from the fish I bought from walmart. I still have about 40 or so kicking around. I lost 2 corydoras out of 42 fish I bought from walmart. So pretty good in my mind. Mind you, they did not have oscars or anything like that at the walmarts here. Just goldfish, guppies, convicts, catfish, etc. I still have a bala shark ( I know its not a shark) from walmart, lol. He's bigger than the ones I bought from pets unlimited around the same time.
Point of my story, it was a good surprise I got from Walmart. I know its just a fluke and most Walmart probably don't give to **** about the fish, but this one was pretty good.
The employees did not like caring for the fish, but they did a good job. Also, most of the fish were like 50 cents by the end of it which was awesome, lol
