Okay, so the deal is that I'm having some A. Comps and A. Calvus and a Synodontis Petricola coming tonight!!! I'm really nervous.
This is my first venture into shipped fish.
I've never added this many to one tank so quick. New filters today and I have Prime on hand and plan on floating them for at least 45 min before I net them and drop 'em.
Can anyone give me any suggestions or help on making them comfortable in their new home tonight?
When and how frequent should I start water changes?
Any and all help is appreciated!!!
(and thanks ahead of time)

so how long has your tank been cycling... did you check your paremeters? and they are new filters with no bacteria built up yet? thats not too good if you want to add all them fish at the same time.. what size thank?

45 minutes?!?! are you nutz?

floating only adjusts temperature. use the dripping method to adjust the water chemistry and please DON'T open the bag and drip for 45 minutes.

the waters in the bag will be filled with ammonia by the time you get the fish in your house.

the quicker you release them, the better. trust me.

I've had fish puncturing the bag while in transit and I had to literally throw the fish in my tank right there and no problems at all.

;)

don't do water changes or anything at all.

leave the lights off and just sit tight and enjoy. :)

thats what im saying;).... if its new.. your asking for a ammonia/nitrate spike.. better add that prime now.. and some bacteria while you still can.. and i mean NOW

The tank has been cycling for 1.5-2 months. All the parameters are fine-I tested last night: temp-81, ph-8.5, nitrates low, nitrites-almost none, etc.
I usually just dump my fish in right away too, but I figured since they are being shipped they are being extra stressed. I wasn't planning on dripping-I've been told the ammonia will spike in the bag. I was just going to get them to temp.
UGHHH!
Oh yeah-its a 30g with 8 very small fish (.5-.75inches) going in tonight.
Should I get em to temp for 15min then just dump em and add some prime?!

Oh yeah...and I haven't changes the filters yet. Should I now? There is definite build up.
There is a bio-wheel too. Basically its a eclipse system that we added a penquin to. So it has room for 3 carts but we are running 2 right now.

sorry, I didn't catch that last post since we posted at the same time.

STOP freaking out dude.

DON'T do ANYTHING.

Leave everything just the same.

and no, you don't need to add prime. I never use any chemicals in my tank.
