new fish from cooler

Well I have good news.. The little one is eating all kinds of pellets and is the craziest flowerhorn I've ever had. It spends all day swimming up and down as fast as it can trying to attack it's reflection in the glass. I am still just amazed that I only paid $50 for it. I have hopes so high for this fish it's ridiculous LOL.

The larger one still does not want to eat any store bought food's, it just want's to eat thing's I've bred myself. So far I've been feeding it net fulls of amphilophus sagittae (I had almost a thousand at the beginning of the week) and snails. I'm cooking him up a batch of convict fry to eat right now. They should be ready to eat in 2 days haha. I also have some guppies I was thinking about feeding to him but I figured I'd let them turn over a few more times until I have hundreds.

I never made it to the pet store today but I will go tomorrow. He had no interest in beef heart or silversides but I'm going to pick him up some krill. I might try bloodworms too cruiser but if I remember aren't those really small? He's 5" so I wanted to try something larger and I've never had fish turn down krill. I'm also going to see if I can find a can of dried shrimp. I was thinking about trying live mealworms and crickets too. If he won't eat them I have 70 other fish that will LOL.

His poop is still clear and bumpy but it doesn't seem to be a parasite or anything. I've had fish with the same poop before that never had anything wrong with them. I think they just still make waste even when they are not eating and that's what it looks like. I could tell there were a few chunks of digested something in some of the poop too so I don't think I have anything to be worried about.

The 1 red dragon fry is looking so nice and is the most dominant of the 5. His color/pearls are 100x nicer than the others. I will keep trying to get a good picture of him, the tank is just too damn low to the ground to take good pictures.

The kamfa is looking sweet too. I had him solo accept for a colony of plecos but decided to move in the smallest red dragon because I figured it had less of a chance of getting beat up with the kamfa.

big guy ate 3 crickets, little ones eating everything. How should I go about getting him to eat pellets? I am thinking of throwing him in a bucket with a sponge filter and heater and treating him for parasites. I know it couldn't hurt. Suggestions?

Try Bloodworms Cam. You dont have to thaw them throw a chunk in, most fish cannot resist them. My Gold Base wouldnt eat pellets at first, he couldnt eat the blood worms fast enough though. Eventually he started eating NLS but it took a while. I just offered it to him everday. As far as the poop goes throw a bit of epsom salt in the tank with him, do a large water change the next day, that will clean him out. I do that with all my fish when I first get them, especially wild caught and from overseas. Good luck with him bro, hes a nice fish.

how much epsom salt for a 75 gallon?

I tried krill last night and he turned it down. Passed on the old selection of frozen stuff pet supplies plus had. He's not linking stuff unless it moves. I was going to throw him in a bucket and add some medicines but will try salt first.

It says how much to use on the salt box.

I just added salt bumped the temp and added prazipro to the tank. The fish still does not seem interested in pellets but his belly is full of sagittae fry and crickets so he's actually doing great. The poop is still a little nasty but I think I saw some sinking pellets in his last poop so that's a good sign. I probably don't want to go out for another batch of crickets to feed this fish so should I just starve him until he eats pellets or keep trying various live foods? I was thinking of doing mealworms next. I just feel like crickets and mealworms are dirty and I shouldn't feed them to him as a staple but if that's all he will eat should I?
