I would agree, BUT.... This fish was up for public sale in the buy/sell forum before he bought it...The price was made public...Had it not been put up for sale in buy/sell...The price would of course, have been private. Price is relative in our hobby....No secrets really...

Without going into this private life I think Neo was pretty sure he was getting this before it got posted in Buy/Sell.. Said "Wife don't know yet" on sunday so maybe he had to rethink for a second but.. yeah I'm pretty sure it was so Rich could post some blinging pics/vids of this thing..

You're right about the rest though. Even without that price being listed you can pretty much guess what such a fish would go for. Though if you were to come out and ask him what any of these rare fish were bought for he has a hard time telling you. But only because well he's modest in that way.

I have to say that reading through this thread made me very proud to be not only an amateur aquarist, but an active member of MFK as well.

I have a lot of respect for the members that posted supportive comments for COMMUNITY, not only ours here on MFK, but fish keeping as a whole.

Rich, your posts and eloquence are inspiring. When I talked to you before about my interest in genetics and advancing synthetic biology, I had lost my drive to do anything. Li, thank you! Thank you for being THE ONE, who created a place where we can all come together to push the hobby to the next level through UNITY! Before I found MFK, I wasn't sure how to feel about my obsession over aquaria. Most people put me down about it, but you have showed us that PASSION for what we do is something to take PRIDE in. Thank you.

I personally would advise anyone to go purse their dreams.... as i told Li, no one knows who i was, or what i did before nor what type of education background i have. I do not need to tell anyone that part of my life. one thing i see is for the younger generation to stand up and become better leaders in society. as for us.. the old..er generation.. we have to give support to these people who will navigate our world to a better place.

I am very fortunate to be able to have this fish brought in and so as the other fish, both exotic species and highly demanded fish. i do thank my suppliers, most of the hard work and full support they give me.

this will be written in history and be remembered. so as each milestone we take in life....

This is what "Monster" is all about... the ambition and the desire to constantly pushing yourself to the next level. its the competition within yourself.

There is no price tag in our hobby... We do it because we love it..
