Cool, he is about the same size as my female. I am going to try to get pics of the male today he is coming out alot more. I am consistently pleased at how well these guys get along. They are very civil toward each other and tend to like to hang around each other which is good. I am hopeful they will spawn in time. The male centrarchus is trying to be boss of the tank bullying the lyonsi around but as they become more comfortable I think that will change.

Awesome. I almost picked up a few from Gage, but decided to get a Hait instead. It's awesome that you're keeping endangered fish. Hopefully you can breed them and help stock numbers for fish keepers.

Thanks for the compliment here are a few shotty pics of the male. And there is one of the centrarchus male chasing the female around. It seems that's all he ever does :irked:.

I am positive they will breed for you. My male is super mellow and displays awesome coloring when not running away from me. I can't say the same for my male Argentea. All he does is constantly harass the female Argentea

Your male argentnea sounds like my male centrarchus. Most people say that archeocentrus form strong pair bonds but my male centrarchus constantly chases and harasses the female. Honestly, if I kept them in anything less than a 6ft tank I would fear the male killing the female he is that nasty toward her. They do occasionally spawn though so it may take for the female argentnea to get in the mood for them to become civil.

I wish I could communicate with my fish. I would be like "Dude! You got a 6 foot tank!!!! Leave her alone... I bought her for you

lol I hear what your sayin. Today my female centrarchus was in spawning dress and was trying to chase the other fish from her spawning site inluding the larger lyonsi. Instead of helping her my male continued to trie to bite her. SO she had to defend herself from the larger lyonsi as well as her own mate :irked:. sigh...
