Just brought home our new fish for our 180 Gallon tank. I need help id'ing one of them.

For future reference I had to rescue these fish cause the tank they were in was about 40 Gallons. He had 2 oscars (one i could not take it was severely deformed and had major HITH starting.) I could not bring myself to watch him suffer or get destroyed by my big oscar. The other two fish are supposed to be a male and female Jack Dempsey's.

The albino oscar is about 8". The male jack dempsey is about 5 inches and the what I think is a female Jack Dempsey is just a little smaller then 5 inches. I also picked up a 12 inch common pleco. (I will be taking him to my LFS or finding someone to take him cause I already have a 14" common pleco. I just could not watch all those huge fish in that small tank.

The original fish in the tank is my 14" Oscar he seems to be a lil unhappy that the albino oscar is in the tank but has not hurt the oscar. The tiger oscar is opening its mouth and shoving the albino around but is not causing harm. And seems to be calming down since the albino is not being aggressive back. I also had a 14" common pleco already in my tank.

Here are some of the pics of the new fish and my existing fish as well as my new decorations I just put in the tank to give them some hiding places and help livin the tank up.

great tankbut wont the oscars attack your lil unknowns

There has not been any aggression towards the JD's yet.... We have been watching them for about 4 hours now. They both seem big enough that he shouldnt eat them tho.

I agree on the fish.. very nice.. especially the JD...

but i have to say.. it looks like both your JD are female...
Male have a very distinctive look... maybe urs is bigger.. but male tends to have glitter spots on their gill plate but yours seems to have a wide pattern of spots....

Other MFKers plz ID on the JD...

(The lighter color JD is for sure a FEMALE) but the darker one.. i dunno.. it also looks like a Female to me...

Also, the lighter JD seems to be very damaged.... the fins... are their any aggression between the two JD?

When I went over to look at the fish before I brought them home there was major agression from all of the fish towards the light colored JD. After bringing them home and putting them in the 180 gallon tank, they seemed to calm down and the JD's seem to actually be getting along now. First time I seen the fish in there previous extremely small tank they were locking lips and chasing each other. Now there is not aggression other then the occosional quick chase. If I see major aggression again I have someone who I can rehome the light colored JD to. So how do I identify male/female. I thought it was dark=male light=female. I will take some more pictures tonight of both the jd's try to get a few better pics. The light colored JD has colored up and looks much better just from being in the tank overnight.
