new fish! just got them today

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
I've noticed with my grow-outs when I put them in a smaller tank they would tend to grow faster rather than putting them in a larger tank, I guess they have better/faster access to food. It also easier to do water changes in a small tank, I just transfer them when the proper time comes, just my opinion of course :grinno: . By the way, good buy!!!!

thanks everyone, today im noticeing one of the umbees is definetly becoming the tank bully ..lol.This one is a little longer and noticibly thicker then the others -i am really hoping to get a male out of this group, but we'll see (I understand the chances are kinda low).thses are very cool fish tho ,not at all shy -come right up to the glass to look at me and they seem like little pigs so far -eat everything Ive given them in a matter of seconds :D .Id mix them with some other cichlids but thier kinda too small ,but maybe in a few weeks or so .

ah well...couldnt resist took some pics and amazingly they came out semi-ok.Heres the umbees, the dominant umbee and one brave severum (the others huddled in a corner as soon as they saw me coming

They kinda look like young dovii with a paler mid-stripe...nice looking fish. Rapps is a great guy to buy fish from, I recommend no one else but him.

yeah they do! that was my first thought when i got them.but they act way,way less shy then baby doviis.yeah Jeff is an awesome seller, one time i bought some midas and doviis from him and ups screwed up -my fish island hopped for 4 days!but because of his excellent packing and shipping they all survied in very good condition no less !

You know he's got them expertly packed when they survive 3-4 days in their bags with no problems. All of his fish are excellent quality, too. I bought some fish from him in person at the ACA convention and they all made the trip back home with very minimal aeration, water changes, and lots of hustle and bustle on the road. Make sure to post more pics as the little umbees develop. The males are magnificent fish. :woot:
