thanx on all accounts..except one thing;)...and that is a very true statement made by the band...all i listen to is rock, metal, heavy metal:headbang2

yea, im a big fan of metal/hardcore :) always good to cross paths with another metalhead :headbang2

In other news, redid the tank the paddle is housed in, so i figured id post up some new shots :) theres also a bonus shot of his tankmate the white sturgeon :)

nice...the sturgeon can handle the heat...i want a lake sturgeon but i fear it couldn't take the heat of a tropical tank...white just gets to big and shovel gets too small...i know that the lake gets big i have caugh a 53" fish...do you think a pattle fish and a lake sturgeon could go with tsns?

the sturgeon handles the heat to a point. i keep the tank at 75-79 (80 currently). the effects it has on the fish are manageable, but not non existent. at the warmer temps the paddle and sturgeon's already incredibly fast metabolisms are sped up considerably. i am forced to feed them multiple times a day (sometimes as many as 4) to keep them satiated and maintain their health.

however, if youw anted to house them with TSNs you could do it the other way around. keep the TSN in cooler water, feeding it less and slowing its growth down. shovelnose are very adaptable cats.....

it would be up to you, you could pull it off, it wouldnt be easy tho. and you must never forget that not every paddlefish will take larger food off a skewer. most are obligate filter feeders.....

ya i know the filter feeding, but a guy could hope to be so lucky...would my tank house it for life i don't remeber the "max" size isn't it like 3-4'?

i supose a tank size would help it's 10'x5'x3'...there would also be a florida gar and silver aro in the future tank...

that would be an awsome paddle tank. id say give it a try. id start them in a smaller tank to make food easier to provide but yea, that tank would house them pretty well. i wouldnt expect 4 feet in captivity, probably more like 2-3.5. a paddlefish that size is a very large fish.

i say give it a try, thats all one can do. ive wanted to try one for a very long time and i have absolutly no regrets about getting mine :)

AWSOME I MIGHT WAIT TILL MY TANK IS BUILT TO DO IT BUT I WILL...

great plan. when you make the plunge be sure and start a thread documenting your progress. there is surprisingly very little out there on this fishes aquarium husbandry. seems to be alot more negative hype than actual experiences.

update: the paddle is doing swimmingly still. actually tried him on market shrimp in addition to the silversides this morning and he seems to like that more, eating a tad more and filling an already packed stomach :headbang2

NICE...AND I WILL POST MY EXP. I NOTICED THAT THERE ARE A LOT OF NEGATIVES ON A LOT OF FISH I HAVE BUT I DON'T SEE THEM...I JUST HAD A BAD NIGHT ...IN THE WTF POST IN THE OTHER MONSTER FISH AND YOU WILL SEE...
