I stopped by one of my lfs and picked up some cool new fish. One of them is a Pinstripe Damba. Ive always wanted one but was never able to find one but now I did. He is currently half an inch long and is in a 5gallon grow out by himself. I was wondering what tankmates would be suitable to be with him at this tiny size. And anyone who has ever had a damba, please give some advice^^~

If you are talking about a Paretroplus menarambo (I´not good with English common names) I believe you will get more attention and opinions if you post it in the dedicated forum ("African Riverine & Madagascar")

I wouldn't worry about tank mates until it puts on some size. If you do want tank mates, make sure they are not too competitive for food since dambas when they're small, may be intimidated by more aggressive feeders. Feed a lot of baby brine shrimp even at this size. It will give it a good start. Dambas are best kept in groups in that they are reassured by the others presence. Is it possible to pick up a few more? You will need a larger grow out tank if so. Here's a video of some young 'menarambo' that I'm raising up right now. Notice how active they are. They seem to feed (pardon the pun) off of one another's energy.

He is very active and a very eager feeder.

Though it takes a while, menerambo get as big as dinner plates, and have some thickness to match. You should plan on a serious upgrade if ou plan on keeping them long term.
They do best in groups, and a quintet will require a tank over 150 gallons.
The one below hit 14" in about 2 years, he and his other 4 com-padres outgrew my 150 gal at that point.

These are from a spawn that I had in December of 2012. So they're about 14 months old and the largest are just coming up to 5".
