NEW FISH: RESCUED 11" OSCAR

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
Congrats on the rescue :) I have a pair of wilds myself...wouldnt trade them for the world. I manage a LFS and we get fish dropped off all the time, yesterday it was a tiger O with probably the worst case of HITH Ive ever seen as well as finrot and missing an eye. Fish was about 9" and had spent its whole life in a 20G tall, he was in real bad shape skinny body wasnt much more than a head and tail. Im hoping hes survived today...as our shop is closed on Sundays.

For their size going on 12" they arnt to bad, but I doubt an angelfish of any size would last long. The female is the more aggressive one, she takes a wild scale and beats everything else in the tank into one end and claims the other 4ft for herself.

Oh no, no :) Its a 6ft 150G...the Female Oscar just goes on a rampage and claims 4ft of it for herself while the other fish get shoved into about a 2ft section :) Id never cram a 12" fish into less than a 6fter.

If its a 75G that wouldnt be a bad life for an Oscar...actually compared to what it would probably end up going into...a 4fter is a blessing. Sad how most people try to cram big Os into stuff like 29s.

Sounds like a standard 120G to me. Heck yeah I wouldnt worry a bit putting an Oscar in there...huge huge diffrence between like a 55G which is also 4ft and what I was refering to earlier(should have been more clear) and a 120G. 120s have a wonderful footprint and surface area...by all means stock it up with a couple of nice larger fish :)
