New Fish!

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
Got this email back from Jeff:

That is a crime Jack. Individually packed, the fish had plenty of oxygen to go 2 days.
The box must have been stored in a unheated facility or truck.
I am so sorry to learn this. That was an impressive pair of fish!

I will follow up with FedEx in the AM and find out what happened here. I intend to file a claim for fish + shipping.

In the meantime, I want for you to have what you've ordered Jack.
I'd like to pack up another (species deleted :)) for you on Thur for Fri delivery.
I'll forward you the tracking # on Thur PM.

Once again, I apologize for any inconveniences this delayed transaction may have caused you.

Best regards, Jeff

Unfortunately I have to tell Jeff to hold off shipment until next week. We've had huge amounts of rain (even for western washington!), and there is flooding everywhere. Highways and schools are closed, and I decided it would be irresponsible for me to ask Jeff to ship replacement fish when delays and certain.

I guess you guys will just have to wait until next week. :D

!boo! We still want pics and we will wait I hope u and ur fam are safe I seen that place on the news its really a mess up there

Thank you for posting up what Jeff had to say. Its impressive to see such formal business manners! Hopefully anyone that has not ever ordered a fish before will see this and feel more at ease!

Good thing you're getting the fish you wanted!
:D

How's the flooding in your area?
It's not too bad in my general area, but I've had power go out twice.
Guess thats what I get for living in Washington. :nilly:

That's too bad man........ Stinks, but it happens though. You never really know what happens to those boxes while they're out of your sight. I know some people who work for UPS, and the stories are pretty scary (and really funny too!........until you think about shipping your prized fish!).

To answer a couple of the earlier questions, there looked to be plenty of water in the bag. The amount of water isn't the really important part, it's the availabillity of O2. More water just eliminates space into which you can inject O2.

Also, the blue color usually represents the presence of methylene blue (a measure to reduce the chance of infection during shipment). Also, many of the "shipping aids" and tranquilizers alter the color of the water. Even Bag Buddies turn the water blue.

Now......... WHAT THE %$^& WAS IT? ; )

I used to work for FedEx loading packages. It's amazing anything gets to it's destination in good shape.

Sorry to see they arrived DOA. Next time you do a Rapps order PM, I might be interested in some things and we could split shipping. Depends on space and money of course.

We have mild flooding, schools were delayed. You know it's bad when schools are delayed in Washington because of rain!

The flooding's not too bad here in town, but our school district has a lot kids that live out in the country, and they've got serious flooding and I've heard of some mudslides too. Our power flickered yesterday, but never went out.

I think the problem was not so much damage as the mysterious hold up in Newark, NJ. According to the tracking page the fish left Newark at 8:30 PM one night and then left Newark again at 7:30 the next morning. For some reason they didn't end up on that initial flight out of there and must have been dumped in some frigid cold facility.

I'd love to do a group order, that shipping cost just kills me. The flooding is getting pretty crazy, but it sounds like the school closures are actually justifiable. Here in Montesano we can't go anywhere but the next town over. Towards Aberdeen the highway is closed just right out of town because there's a bridge that's usually a good 20-30 feet above the river, but supposedly yesterday afternoon the water got all the way up to the bridge. And then going the other direction you can make it ten miles to Elma, but after that Highway 12 is closed. It's a mess.
