Nice bass. He will likely get territorial when he gets larger. They develope personality and become the "king" of their tank.

Nice looking fish:). In my opinion the best option is to try to get him on a good quality pellet food as your base and then supplement with other food such as worms, blood worms pieces of smelt. I would be careful about using to many feeder fish as that is a good way to introduce disease into your tank.

there not feeder goldfish iv kept them for ahwile now. but i have now where to put the bass acepte in the 55 so if it eats the goldfish its no biggy

what brand pellets are you guys useing?

hikari cichlid gold is what im using does a little better for color than omega one did, and the spectrum stuff at petco dosnt compete as well on the recipe listing as the omega one and hikari. all 3 are good feeds, cichlid gold works the best for me.

Tats a small mouth bass. Try some hikari massivore too especially wen he gets bigger. Dont bother w the bloodworms it wud take alot of em and they arent THAT nutritious. If he doesnt take the pellets immediately try some silversides or shrimp

The upper jaw extends past the eye, which would indicate that its not a smallmouth.

if you can get it to eat pellets your doing well.. mine were eating small bail fish from the time they were 5 inches.. they grew to 13 and 11 inches in just over a year. thats aeting about 2 dozen crappie minnows a week. they out grew my 120 gal. in no time!

on another note. once it gets bigger you will not be able to keek other fish with it. unless its a mild manner bass it will devour everything sooner or later!
