Definately watch the FH it could be trouble in the future although some fh's are no worse than over sized convicts.
The sev looks nice but certainly will be the weaker fish in the tank compared to the oscars and fh.
Great new fish there

I installed a uv steraliser on my oscar tank and kept nitrates at 50 max and the hole in the head dissapeared. Im thinking of doing my research project in this disease but there are a lot of ethical problems.

my nitrates seem fine all the time, even with the amount of fish i have in this tank.

what is a uv steralizer?, and how much do they cost?

I do run, just a plain old 48' home depot shop light on the tank with plain old floresent tubes. I have looked into different lighting, but all of the solutions ive looked at are soo dam expensive. keep in mind i only paid 200 dollars on the tank and usually dont spend more then 30 dollar on any fish, but medication is killing me right now!!

Beautiful fish.. i think some Oscars are just plain prone to HITH disease.. i have been battling the same thing with one of my Oscars for a year now.. if you hear of anything out there that helps please let me know.. i know every one mentions the water perimeters..which i am sure is the # 1 reason for HITH but i have kept his water pristene and feed a variety of foods and he still battles it.. beautiful fish you have and lots of luck with the newbies..

red devil: do you run a uv sterilizer??

sunpoe: thanks, ya my oscars are pigs, today they almosted jump out of the tank when i walked up to it to feed them!!
