just pick up my new flower horn i think its a male.......Right now his in a 10 HEX just gonna let him grow a lil more then ima buy him a 35HEX OR 29 HIGH.

looks nice but why won't you just buy him a 55 gallon long or even better a 75 gallon? But why with such high tanks....you leaving your new flowerhorn to grow with such very small footprint to swim back and forth in...just saying...but someone may say the same thing i just did with why go with a taller tank then those better tank with lenght.....those hex are more better useful for those angelfish and discus....not other more robust cichlids like a flowerhorn

Agree, the longer and wider the tank the better.. hex tanks are nice and all, but they're expensive and usually aren't long enough. If money is tight you can get a new 55g with lights/cover for $119 at Petsmart. or a used one on CL. best of luck..

Nobody should keep any type of cichlid in a hex, buy a "long" or "breeder" tank for him.

you don't need a tall tank to get a good size Kok on a Flowerhorn....you can get a good size one in any kind of tank but if you go with tall you leaving out the lenght and width for your flowerhorn to grow much larger than what you can achieve from a tall tank like a hex....you can gain a large Kok from those specially formulated pellets to grow the Kok size to a really large one....and its all depending on genes and how well graded it is and how the quality is in the tank....tall tanks doesn't mean bigger Kok
